Procurement & Usage Tips (FAQ)
1. What should I verify before purchasing direct printing pigment ink?
Confirm that the ink is compatible with your printhead technology (e.g., Epson, Kyocera, Ricoh, Seiko) and your fabric types (cotton, linen, polyester blends, etc.). Ask the supplier for colour gamut, lightfastness, and rub fastness test reports. Also check whether the ink requires pre-treatment or post-heating—most direct pigment inks need only heat curing, but requirements vary by brand.
2. How do I store and handle this pigment ink correctly?
Store ink in a cool, dark place at 15 – 30 °C (59 – 86 °F) and avoid freezing or direct sunlight. Shake or stir the ink gently before use (especially white ink, if applicable), as pigment particles can settle over time. Keep containers sealed when not in use to prevent evaporation or contamination. Follow the recommended shelf life, typically 12 months from production date.
3. What application tips ensure best printing and fastness results?
Use a suitable fabric pre-treatment (if required by the ink system) to improve colour brightness and edge definition. After printing, heat cure the fabric according to the ink manufacturer’s guidelines—typically 150 – 170 °C for 2 – 3 minutes. Avoid over-curing, which can cause yellowing, or under-curing, which reduces wash fastness. Perform a wash test before full production to verify adhesion and colour retention.
